WAHAROA AERODROME

OHINEMURI NOT INTERESTED LETTER FROM PIAKO COUNTY Notification from the Piako County Council of a meeting to be held at Te Aroha concerning the future of the Waharoa aerodrome was received' by the Ohinemuri County Council at its November meeting. The matter arose out of a letter from' the Minister of Defence.

It . was stated that additional information concerning maintenance, costs, and sources of revenue had now been obtained) and the Piako Council felt that there was now sufficient material to warrant the proposed meeting, so that it might be ascertained. whether there was any genuine demand for the aerodrome as a civil aerodrome and whether it could u'sefully serve that purpose. The chairman'(Cr. T. A. Barrett) said‘that so. far as the Ohinemuri council was concerned the site of the aerodrome was unsuitable; it was too far to walk to. . . - ■ - The. letter was received, and ’t was resolved that the council be represented at the proposed meeting.
