SCHOOL CONCERT
FUNCTION AT KEREPEEHI
VERY SUCCESSFUL EVENING
The' Kerepeehi. Hall was taxed to its capacity when a -school concert and dance was held recently. Visitors were present from all districts on the Plains.
The children’s .performances were outstanding, each item receiving hearty applause. The frocking and scenery were a great credit to those responsible.
'Music for the children’s, items was played by Mrs H. McGowan and- the Kerepeehi Rhythm Ramblers suppled the- music for the dance which followed the concert. ..
At the conclusion of the concert Mr W. Bailey commended the children for their excellent performance and stated that great credit was due to the hard work of Mr H. McGowan and those who had so ably assisted him, Misses E. Kelly, J. Quinn, J. Waldergrave, Mrs McGowan and Mr Lane. Mr Bailey said that he was sure everyone would heartily endorse his remarks and he was certain that everyone had enjoyed the concert. Mr McGowan in reply stated that he was very pleased with the children’s performance and expressed his appreciation to all who had' assisted him in any way and also the large audience who had attended the concert.
The programme opened with the National Anthem and was as follows: —Songs, old and new, Stds. 3 and 6, soloists, Peter Connor, Toko Rima, Mo Herewini, Bill Kearns, Fay Strong, Pat Innis, Barbara Hayes, Percy Rawlins, Max 'Vivian, Doris Wentworth, Ken Harvey, Gillie Bailey, Judith Hill, Maureen Nicholson, Pen Woodbridge, Marina Rangi, Mona Parata; Indians and Wolves, linfant boys; Songs by the' Zuyder Zee, Stds. 1 and 2, soloists, Martha Parata, Iris Kearns, Lorraine Patterson; “How’d You Like To Be A Baby Girl?” Infant girls; excerpts from the “Garden” and “Prison,” scenes of the grand opera e<l Faust,” Marta ('Fay Strong, St. 6), Siebel (Max Vivian, Std. 3), Margerita (Judith Hill, Std. 4), Fause (Bill Kearns, St. 5), Mephistopheles (John Taylor, Std 5); Weight Lifting, a comedy
skit by Stds.
