SPECIAL RATING AREA

SUGGESTION FOR NGATEA DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRESS “That the county council be approached with a view to meeting representatives of the Ngatea Progress Association, in order ' to consider the establishment of a special rating area for Ngatea township and environs for the purposes of hall, street lighting and domain improvement,” was a request from the Ngatea Progress Association to the November meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. “ The association realises that if amenities are to be provided they must be paid for and it was felt that the establishment of a special rating area would equalise the financial burden,” wrote the secretary, Mr G. W. Cramond. The clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, said a special rating area could ’ not be formed without a petition was presented with the signatures of more than 50 per cent, of the ratepayers. It was decided to advise the association of this.
