MEETING AT HIKUTAIA

PAEROA PLUNKET SOCIETY

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

A meeting was held in the Hikutaia Hall recently in connection with the forming of a sub-branch in Hikutaia of the Paeroa' Plunket Society. The following members of the Paeroa Plunket Society were present, Mrs E. Edwards, Mayoress of Paeroa, Mrs C. Blackwood, president of the Paeroa Plunket Society, Mrs G. Gamble, secretary, Mrs C. N. O’Neill, treasurer, and Mrs. W. G. H. Weadon. Mrs A. W. Alley, the convener of the meeting, presided l and welcomed the Paeroa members. After outlining the objects of the meeting Mrs Alley invited the Paeroa president to take the chair.

A full discussion then took place as to the amount of finance and equipment necessary to form a branch and it was decided that approximately the sum of £35 per annum would be nee-ded. As it was considered' that this amount could l be raised' it was proposed and seconded by Mrs R. Clark and. Mrs C. Hopping and carried unanimously that l a sub-branch of the Paeroa Plunket Society /be formed in Hikutaia and that the nurse attend/ for a full day once a fortnight commencing from Wednesday, November 21. It was decided that all funds would be banked in the Hikutaia Post Office and a meeting of the committee held quarterly.

The election of officers resulted as follows: —(President, Mrs A. W. Alley; vice-presidents, Mesdames T. Corbett and F. Bown; secretary-treasurer, Mrs R. Clarke; committee, Mesdames B. A. Kelly, M. Morrison, C. Morrison, C. Hopping, W. Avery, V. Alley, N. Forder, J. Tilsley, C. Alley; three officers for signing of money withdrawals, Mesdames A. W. Alley, R. Clarke a‘nd B. Kelly.

At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs A, W. Alley thanked the Paeroa officers for their attendance and help and proposed a hearty vote of thanks to them. This was carried by acclamation.

A dainty afternoon tea was then served.
