CHORAL WEDDING

DEMPSEY—THOMPSON CEREMONY AT AUCKLAND BRIDE IN WHITE LACE A pretty choral wedding of wide interest took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Auckland, on August 25, when Miss Eleanor Moore, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. M. Thompson, of Bennett street, iPaeroa (formerly of Kerepeehi) l , was married to James Daniel ,(ex-,prisoner of war), eldest son of Mr and the late Mrs Dempsey of Ongarue. The Rev. Canon A. G. It was cut on classical lines with a heart-shaped neckline. The bodice created a basque effect at the back with the skirt then falling softly into a train. She wore a tulle veil which was held to her head by a topknot of flowers. The beautiful shower bouquet was of orchids, white hyacinths and sweet peas with maidenhair fern.

In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Mavis Connelly of Epsom. Her frock, was of white organdie worn over satin. It was made with a tightfitting bodice which fell into a very full skirt. Her bouquet was of scarlet anemones, tulips, sweet peas and maidenhair fern. Her headdress worn as a halo was made of the same natural flowers.

The flower girl was Miss Lynne Thompson of Mangere, niece of the bride. She looked very sweet in her frock of white organdie. It was made with a high bodice and very full skirt with tiny frills from half-way down to the hem. Her satin underskirt was also frilled. She carried a posy of scarlet flowers the same as the bridesmaid. On her head she wore a poke bonnet made of the same material as her dress. . The bridegroom was attended by Mr Jack C'aundle of Mt. Albert (ex-pris-oner of war), as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the (Domain Tea Kiosk. To receive her guests, Mrs Thompson wore a black woollen georgette ensemble with a black straw hat. Her shoulder spray was of scarlet tulips and anemones with maidenhair fern. Mrs Brunton who acted as hostess for the groom, wore a brown cloque frock with a brown straw hat and three-quarter fur coat. Her shoulder spray was the same as the bride’s mother’s. ■When the bride left later on her honeymoon she wore a powder blue woollen ensemble with tan accessories.
