CHURCH PARADE

NGATEA FOOTBALL CLUB MANY PLAYERS ATTEND REFEREE GIVES THE ADDRESS Between 40 and 50 players- and supporters of the Ngatea Football Club accepted the invitation of the Methodist Church to attend their evening service which was conducted by the Rev. G. Crammond. The address was given by Mr S. G. Yoeman, a layman of the Mt. Eden Methodist Church, and an Auckland Rugby referee. During the service the Church Musical Association sang the piece “Come to the Church in The Wild Wood” and Mr Yoeman sang the the sacred solo “The Old Rugged Cross.” The lesson was read by Rev. J. C. Howatt.

In his address, Mr Yoeman took as his subject “A Man st Conception, of Christ.” He commenced by pointingout that life could be likened unto a game of football. On the field the men must work as a team, they must train they must have a coach. From this the Sipeaker pointed out, man must also train and equip himself well in order to meet the demands that life will make upon him. He must have a coach, and the best coach was Jesus Christ. The Mr Yoeman went on to paint a word picture of a man’s conception of Christ, not the Meek and Lowly Jesus” of our childhood ideas, but the strong Son of God' who could be respected and) reverenced 1 and loved by all men. He urged the men present to seek this. Christ who could meet their every needs and follow Him-.

Following the service the ladies of the church entertained the men to a social hour and supper in the refrectory of the Masonic Lodge.
