CROQUET IN PAEROA

PERMISSION TO USE DOMAIN SEASON TO OPEN SHORTLY “On behalf of the Paeroa Ladies’ Croquet Club I wish to apply for the use of the lawns at the Paeroa Domain at the same rental as last year, for the coming season,” stated a letter from the secretary, Mrs G. Wylde, to the (September meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council. “Our annual meeting will be held about the middle of next month and we hope to open early in October. We wish to thank the council and their staff for their help and co-operation last year,” the letter added. “The club also asks that the lawns be cut twice and rolled once a week,” the letter concluded. The works committee reported on the condition of the green as under:— “The croquet green has .been topdressed with dried soil. . The motormower in use on the croquet green is in a bad way. It has given good service up to-the present but has reached the stage where it requires an extensive overhaul. The most economical and satisfactory solution would be the purchase of a new machine if one is available.”

The application was granted' on the same terms as l previously.
