DANCE RECITAL
MISS M. JOHNSON’S PUPILS FUNCTION AT NGATEA LARGE CROWD IN THE HALL The Ngatea Hall was well filled on' Monday, September 10, for the recital of Miss M. Johnson’s pupils. There was really a host of talent displayed and every item was painstakingly prepared l and much' credit is due to Miss Johnson for the way she has trained 1 the children. Especially. worthy of note was the pianist, Miss 'Ngaire Miller of Kopuarahi who accompanied all the dancing items and although still a school girl she really played her .part extremely well. Items most favoured were by the small Turua pupils, who looked’ not more than eight years, in a “Glowworm Ballet.” They looked really lovely in their ballet skirts of pastel shades.
The grand finale, “Wedding Of The Painted Doll” was delightful. The bride and groom, accompanied by two bridesmaids came before the minister and a ballet of the “painted dollies” brought all artists to the stage. Variety in dancing included Irish Jig, Highland Fling and Sword dances-, Russian dances and Sailors’ hornpipe. At the conclusion of the concern Misses Peggy O'Brien and Margaret Jamieson presented Miss Johnson with gifts in appreciation of the interest she had taken in them throughout the year. Accompanying throughout was Herb. Walker’s Orchestra from Thames and they also supplied music for the dancing which followed. The M.C. for the evening was Mr E.
