MATCHES ON SATURDAY GAME WITH PONSONBY OTAHUHU TO PLAY ALSO A meeting of the management committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held in the Labour Party Rooms on Monday night, the chairman, Mr D. G. McMillan, presiding. Others present were Messrs J. J. Hill, G. Master, L. Gloyn, R. Harris, A. Lindsay, W. F. IF. (Faber, B. Kelly, R. L. Darley, H. Grant, F. Craig, K. Dean and the secretary, Mr A. Bradburn. It was decided to donate £5 to the Eden Football Club to assist in. the payment of their expenses for their visit to Paeroa. OPEN TYPE FOOTBALL TEAM FROM PONSONBY “Our boys are very fit and keenly looking forward to the trip. HIKUTAIA WIN JUNIOR KNOCK-OUT Playing at Hikutaia on Saturday in the final of the Paeroa Rugby Union’s junior knock-out competition, Hikutaia defeated the third grade representatives by 12 points to three. Mr Southwick was the referee. VISIT TO WHITIANGA UNITED BEATEN 14 TO 6 The United Football Club journeyed to Whitianga and played the Bay team last Saturday. Through the absence of C. McKain, W. Harrison, G. Laverick and P. Oram the team lacked penetration and had to play on the defensive for the greater part of the game. The Bay team played a clean and fast game, scoring three tries, one converted and a penalty, winning by 14 points to six. United’s points came from two tries by Ed. Short. * WEST BEATEN MATCH .WITH COROMANDEL The West Football Club’s senior team played at Coromandel on Satur day, being beaten by Coromandel by 18 points to nil. .
