MR C. MALCOLM FAREWELLED GATHERING OF TEACHERS' Mr C. ‘W. Malcolm, headinaster of the Netherton (School who has 'been appointed headmaster of the Forest Lake School at (Hamilton, was the recipient of a leather attache case presented' at a large gathering of teachers from all schools' in the Paeroa area held in the Paeroa (District High School on Monday afternoon. The function:, which took the. form of a social afternoon tea, was held under the auspices: of the Paeroa sub-branch of thq New Zealand Educational Institute. In making the presentation, the president, Mr R. P.. Callaway, congratulated Mr Malcolm upon securing" such desirable promotion and expressed the teachers.’ appreciation of Mr Malcolm’s energetic and efficient services given in the interests of the profession. He had been a member of the institute for many years, several times president, at other times proving a most untiring secretary. Mr A. E. Day, recent headmaster of the Paeroa District High School, paid a very high tribute to Mr Malcolm’s efficiency and capacity for hard work both as an assistant teacher at Paeroa and later as headmaster of Netherton, where he had created a. model school. He wished him equal success as headmaster of the Forest Lake School. Both Mr and Mrs Malcolm would carry, with them the best wishes of those present for every happiness in their new sphere. Mr iG. M. Ruscoe and Miss G. 'Gwil • liam also offered congratulations and good l wishes. In reply, Mr Malcolm regretted leaving his home town and the many friends he had there and referred particularly to the pleasant years he had' spent in the very-friendly, atmosphere amongst his colleagues at'Paeroa.
