BACK HOME

WELCOME AT KUAOTUNU

PTE. R. TURNER HONOURED A “welcome home” function was arranged at Kuaotunu to (Pte. Russell Turner, twin son of Mr and Mrs Walter Turner. He served with the medical corp and left with an early reinforcement.

The local residents all attended, as well-as a crowd from the Bay and the

evening was a jolly one. Mrs Rose, played on her piano-accordion for the dancing.

Mr T. E. Simpson very capably expressed the pleasure of again welcoming home another soldier and spoke highly of Pte. Turner’s- parents. He wished him every success and presented- a cheque on behalf of the residents of Kuaotunu.

Pte. Turner suitably replied, thanking everyone for their kindness. All joined in singing “For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow.”

A lovely supper was provided by the ladies.

Dancing continued and later closed with the National Anthem.
