PARENTS’ EVENING

COROMANDEL GIRL GUIDES MOST ENJOYABLE FUNCTION The Coromandel 'Girl Guides held a parents’ evening recently when they gave a varied programme of items. There was a large numbei’ of parents and friends present and the evening proved most enjoyable. The following were the items that were presented:— Welcome song, by the company; recitation, Nina Inglis; piano solo, Hine Brown; duet, Maureen Kelliher and Betty Sole; charade, four Guides, Patricia Mannion, Loma Strongman, Noeline Savage and Joyce Martin; tap dance, Daisy Compton; Weaving the Flax, by the company; duet, Hilda Inglis and Vilma Jane; morse display, •Patricia Mannion, Betty Sole and Noeline Savage; tap dance, Dorothy Inglis; solo, Joan Logan; knot relay, by the company; piano solo, Betty

Sole; dance, “Hansel and) Gretal,” by the company; recitation, Patricia Morrison; duet, Palma McNeil and Dawn Glogoski; piano solo, Loma Strongman; piano solo, Joyce Martin.

There was a mock camp fire with songs by the company. Supper was served by the Guides assisted by a' committee of ladies. Acting-Lieut. Dorothy Inglis thanked the guests for coming along and hoped they had enjoyed the programme. The evening was brought to a close with the Guide horseshoe," with the Union Jack, and Guides sang “Taps,” followed by the'National Anthem. COMMISSIONER’S VISIT LIEUTENANT’S WAR'RAN’T~TEST On Saturday, December 2, the Guide Commissioner, Mrs Harrison, paid a visit to the Coromandel Company of Guides. A meeting was held and Acting -(Lieutenant Dorothy Inglis was tested for her lieutenant’s warrant.

The Commissioner inspected the patrols and discussed new ideas for the company. An enjoyable afternoon tea was served. Dorothy Inglis thanked Mrs Harrison for her visit and. hel’ assistance to her in obtaining her warrant. Mrs Harrison suitably replied.

After the Guides were dismissed Mrs Harrison met the committee and discussed Guide business.
