WAIHI A. & P. ASSN.

TO HOLD SHOW THIS YEAR FIXTURE FOR MARCH DECISION OF ANNUAL MEETING Decision to hold a show this year, after a long lapse caused by war conditions generally, was made at the annual general meeting of the Waihi Agricultural and Pastoral Association (Inc.), which was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Friday evening. The president, Mr A. Leach, presided and despite the very bad weather there was a good attendance. Members agreed that some time early in March would be most suitable for the fixture; and if the 1945 event proves as successful as its predecessors —and there is every reason to expect that this will be the case—/both patrons and competitors will be assured of a most enjoyable, interesting and profitable time. Details have, of course, yet to be arranged, but it is intended to have the fullest possible schedule of events, on a par with those which obtained •before the war-clouds intervened. Highland dancing, wood-chopping and similar popular attractions will be included in the programme, while naturally the horse and pony events will be a feature. Election of Officers Officers were elected as follow: — Patrons, Messrs J. Thorn, M.P., and W. M. Wallnutt; president, Mr A. Leach; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Hollis, S. H. Brown and A. C. Davidson; committee of management, Mesdames R. E. Mathers and B. I. McWilliams and Messrs P. G. Lindsay, H. W. Edwards, T. A. Delamore, A. H. McCormack, A. J. Butler, P. L. Hannay, C. Christensen, F. Sexton and C. A. Thorpe; secretary, Mr A. J. Dean; hon. auditor, Mr Vryn Evans.

Because it was intended to hold a full-schedule show this year, the subscription was increased to £1 Is.
