GARDEN PARTY

FUNCTION HELD AT NGATEA ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON A very enjoyable afternoon was spent recently at the residence of Mr and Mrs E. Sherlock, when the ladies of the Ngatea Methodist Church organised a garden party. The function was made more pleasant by the unexpected arrival of Mrs A. S. Sutheland, who kindly consented to open the afternoon, and, in doing so, expressed the hope that the afternoon would be a successful one.

Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P., who was in the district, attended during the afternoon. The sales table was well patronised and was under the supervision of Mrs D. Williamson and Mrs T. Brien. There was a particularly large attendance and competitions added to the enjoyment of the afternoon. Clock, golf was won by Mrs F. E. Hammond, and Mrs A. Fisher won the cake in the weight-guessing. The Rev. Mr Cramond thanked those present for their attendance, and a dainty afternoon tea was served.
