THE BIBLE

DIVINELY INSPIRED

TRULY THE WORD OF GOD “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.” (2 Timothy 3.16). With what frenzied zeal, has man sought to disprove that statement! In the name of science and! scholarshipmuch of the learning and theologicalactivity of the day have been concentrated upon an attempt to discredit the Bible asi the divinely inspired Word> of God and to drag it down to the same level as other books. Yet despite the combined efforts of the best brains that science, rationalism, athetsm or any other of the Bible’s opponents can produce, the grand old Book remains as it ever was, truly the Word of the living God, its truth unimpaired, its message ever “converting the soul, making wise the simple, rejoicing the heart and enlightening the eyes.” (Psalm 19' - 7.8.)' Perhaps one of the chief reasons the Bible arouses such hostility is that it give no flattering picture of man and his- -world but just the reverse. Instead of describing man as a noble being, ever aspiring towards.the attainment of exalted ideals, the Word of God says that “they are all under sin” and that “there is none righteous, no, not one. There is none that understandeth, there is not that seeketh after God.” (Romens 3 . 9.-11). But despite the Bible’s unerring judgment of man and his imperfections, the Book offers to all who read its sacred pages, a means of deliverance from the power of sin. It tells of another Word 1 —the Word made flesh—Jesus Christ the righteous—the eternal Son of God., “Who gave Himself for our sins that He might deliver us from the present evil world.” (Galatians 1.4).

Reader, where do you stand? Have you experienced this great salvation?, Next week. Man’s way or God’s way.
