SELFISH

SOME WATER CONSUMERS TAPS LEFT RUNNING INSPECTION OF PAEROA AREA The habit of some water consumers of leaving their taps running for long periods, their not only wasting water but reducing the pressure of their neighbours’ supply, was strongly deprecated by the county engineer, Mr L. E. Shaw, in speaking to his report at the monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council.

The engineer condemned the practice in question as; being- not only wasteful, but selfish.

Mr Shaw, reporting on county water supplies, stated that in company with the foreman an inspection of practically the whole of the reticulation of the Paeroa Water Supply had been made, and it was surprising to find out just how careless and unfair certain consumers l could be. All these cases of excessive wastage had since been attended to, and in some cases it had been necessary for the foreman to do the repairs l and charge the cost to the consumer. As time permitted an inspection was' being made of the Kaimanawa water supply. -The engineer’s report was adopted.
