RETURN CONCERT

EVENING AT HIKUTAIA

PAEROA MUNICIPAL BAND

VERY SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION

There was a good audience once again when the Paeroa Municipal Band gave a return concert in the Hikutaia Hall on Monday eveninglast. The 'band under the baton of Mr E. Beilby presented an excellent and varied programme and were aibly assisted by Mesdames Stevenson, J. Brown and’ Messrs P. Caisley and R. Harris.

At the conclusion of the concert the bandmaster thanked the artists for their help, without which he said the concert would not have been half so successful, the audience for their presence and the Hikutaia ladies for providing supper. Music was provided by the Paeroa Melody Makers for the dance which followed and- an extra was provided by Messrs E. Smith and F. Smith. The M.C. was Mr Cedric Murdock. Programme Presented The following was the programme presented:—'March, “Knight Of The Road,” band; selection, “Scenes Of Beauty,” band; contralto solos, “Smilin’ Through,” “Coming In On A Wing and A Prayer,” Mrs Stevenson; selection, “Love’s Old Sweet Song,” band; humorous entertainment, “In Other Words,” and “The Odyssey Of Joe,” Mr P. Caisley; march, “March Of The Heralds,” band; pianoforte solos, “The March Of All Nations;” “Highland Gems,” Mrs J. Brown; selection, “Once Upon A Time,” band; vocal duet, “The Garden Of Your Heart,” “Arise O Sun,” Messrs P. Caisley and R. Harris; selection, “American Beauties,” band; contralto solo, “Two Little Words,” “The Road To The Isles,” Mrs Stevenson; entertainment, “Susan Jane,” “The Phantom Piper,” Mr P. Caisley; selection, “Sabbath Memories,” band; march, “Our Director,”'band.

The concert concluded with community singing with Mr P. Caisley conducting in his- usual bright manner. Mr R. Harris was the accompanist.
