YOUTH CLUB
FORMATION IN PAEROA INAUGURAL MEETING OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED A meeting of all the young people interested in the formation of a youth Club in Paeroa was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday night. Mr G. Pope as president of the Junior Patriotic Committee, presided. After some discussion it was decided that the Junior 'Patriotic Committee be amalgamated into the Paeroa Youth Club. ■lt was decided to call the club “The Paeroa Youth Club” and the objects for which the club has been established are as follows: —
To establish, maintain and conduct a club having its registered office at Paeroa. To promote the entertainment of members of the club and the advancement of their social activities. To diffuse information on all matters pertaining to the objects of the club and to print, publish, issue or circulate such papers, periodicals, books, circulars and other literary undertakings as may seem conducive to any of these objects. To affiliate with any society, body or association having similar objects, or to join or co-operate with, or subscribe to the fuhds of any society, body or association for the purpose of better attaining or otherwise furthering the objects and interests of the club or the membership thereof.
To construct, maintain, alter, improve, enlarge, pull down, remove or replace, manage, carry bn and control any buildings or works which may seem to the club to advance its interests, directly or indirectly. To subscribe to any local or other charities and to grant donations for any public or charitable purpose. To do all such things as in the opinion of the club may be conducive or incidental to the attainment of any of the foregoing objects or the exercise of any'of the foregoing powers. The income and property of the club shall be applied only towards the promotion of the objects thereof as set out in these rules, and no income or funds shall be paid, directly or indirectly by way of dividend or bonus or otherwise by way of profit to any member of the club. Provided that nothing herein contained shall prevent payment in good faith of remuneration to any employee of the club whether such employee shall be a member of the club or not.
The chairman elected for the evening was Mr E. Kahn of the Paeroa Rotary Club. The' minute secretary was Mr W. G. Pope. The following officers were elected: —Patron, Mr C. N. O’Neill; president, Mr J. Sherson; vice-president, Miss M. Cummins; secretary-treasurer, Miss M. O’Neill; auditor, Mr W. F. F. Faber; a committee of eight was elected as follows with power to add, Messrs E. Smith, L. Whisker, G. Pope and R. Jessen; Misses M. Cummins, M. Westlake, M. Kidd and S. Silcock.
During the meeting and the dance which followed, over 45 members were enrolled for the club. The subscription was fixed at '3s per member.
A dance followed, music being supplied by the “Rhythm Trio,” while extras were played by Miss N. Rush and Messrs L. Whisker, A. Pearson and 'B. Clune.
The dance brought the evening to a close. i
