COMMISSION GAINED

PILOT-OFFICER G. CLOTWORTHY AIRMAN FROM HIKUTAIA Cabled advice has been received by Mr and Mrs C. Clotworthy, of Hikutaia, that their youngest son, ’War-rant-Officer 'Gilbert Clotworthy, of the R.N.Z.A.F. has been granted his commission in England. Pilot-Officer Clotworthy left New Zealand in September, 1941, for Canada where he completed his course as a wireless operator-gunner, and was retained! there for some time as an instructor. On going to England he was promoted to Flight-Sergeant and more recently to the rank of War-rant-Officer.

He has taken part in a large number of operations, including those over France on <£ D” Day.
