WOMEN’S DIVISION

NGATEA BRANCH MEETING RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS Mrs W. Jones presided over a good attendance at the monthly meeting of the Ngatea branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union which was held in the Ngatea Public Hall last week. One new member was welcomed. Mrs E. 'Sherlock read an interesting article on the nutritious value of sunflower seeds and Mrs W. Jones an extract entitled “Surgery Heals the Scars of War.” After lunch the Rev. J. More (Turua) gave a very interesting talk on “Maoris I Have (Met.” The monthly competition was won by Mrs W. Murphy, the prize being a dozen eggs donated by Mrs McWatters. Winners of the floral competitions were: — Best bloom. —Mrs T. Wheeler 1, Mrs B. Keyes 2. Vase of flowers.—Mrs T. Wheeler 1, Mrs Keyes (2, Mrs A. Fisher 3. Floating bowl. —Mrs E. Sherlock 1, Mrs Keyes 2, Mrs Wheeler 3. Vegetable section.—Mrs Wheeler.
