42 YEARS’ SERVICE
PAEROA POST OFFICE MR J. T. M. WHITE RETIRES , PRESENTATION FROM STAFF Mr J. T. M. White, of the Paeroa Post Office staff, retired on March 31, having completed just over 42 years’ service spent on the staff of the Paeroa office with the exception of a short period of messenger service at Karangahake on entering the service in 1902. , Mr White was veiy well known on the postal delivery service but of late has acted in a clerical capacity. At the close of business on Friday afternoon the local staff assembled to bid an official farewell to Mr White. The postmaster, Mr W. J. Cummins traced Mr White’s career in an interesting speech and also eulogised his versatile capabilities. Messrs V. Boles and G. Miller endorsed the remarks and good wishes expressed by the postmaster, who then made a presentation on behalf of the staff. Mr White acknowledged the good wishes and presentation. The singing of “For He’s A Jolly Good Fellow” completed the gathering. With the exception of a forced absence through accident Mr White was not absent through sickness throughout his 42 years of service.
