TAIRUA WHARF
NECESSARY REPAIRS WORK TO BE CARRIED OUT Matters concerning the Tairua riding were mentioned in the engineer’s report at the last meeting of the Thames County Council, when Mr A. Sadler reported on repairs to the Tairua wharf. In a brief resume of the work required to be done, he said:— “In considering repairs to the Tairua wharf it is difficult to determine where to stop. The more essential work and estimated cost is as under: —'Piles, 14/18, 180 ft. at 5s in place, £63; dwangs and braces, 6x4, 14/16, 12/14, 784 at 100 s, £39 4s; decking, 9 x 2, 20/10, 200- cub. ft. handrails, 6 x li 6/8, 36 cub. ft. 4 x IS 22/8, 88 cub. ft. 424 at 80/-, £l7; incidentals, bolts, straps, doorhangers and fixing, £5 16s; total, £125.” It was- decided that the engineer proceed with the work, with the exception of the handrails.
