EVACUATION THE WOUNDED CARING FOR DOMINION MEN The Commissioner of Die Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red (Toss Society in the Middle East, tells of the evacuating of a largo number of sick' and wounded men “Before the men went on board the hospital ship they were personally interviewed and presented with —-what is now becoming famous —the Joint Coun- ! oil gifl baa'. The needs of the men en route home were also provided for. and from reports reI ceived when the ship reached the Dominion, these extras were much appre- ■ ciated. r “Hospital visiting was carried out I with the usual eflicieney, and no less ! than 7200 visits were made during the I period under review. ! “Additionally, the Commissioner I took part in discussions bearing on l pre-armistice relief, and with Colonel ; Waite assisted in arrangements for (he erection of a verandah round the swim- ■ ming baths at the Sick and Wounded ' Club adjacent to the New Zealand hospital at Ilolwan. This building was opened by the Egyptian Minister for Education, and bears an inscription indicating that it is h gift from ;he people of New Zealand.”
