NGATEA WOMEN MEET

TWO MEMBERS FAREWELLED RESULTS OF THE COMPETITIONS The usual monthly meeting of the Ngatea Women’s Institute was held in Ngatea Hall on June 3, Miss Paul presiding* ovei' a large attendance of members and friends. Miss Paul gave a very full and interesting report on the council meeting held in Auckland in May when the Ngatea Institute was successful in winning the Grace Phillips’ Memorial Cup. A very interesting letter was received from Flying-Officer Jack Vowles thanking Ngatea members for the lovely parcel he had received from the institute. Mrs Wallace of Waitakaruru wrote congratulating Ngatea on winning the cup. Mrs J. Galvin and Mrs F. Pierce, who are leaving the district, were each presented with a lovely shoulder spray by the president. The competition results:— A hot water bottle cover made from warm material was won by Mrs Wheeler 1, Miss Paul 2. Best bloom.—Mrs E. J. Thomas 1, Mrs T. Wheeler 2. Decorative section.—Mrs H. Dalgety 1, Mrs Wheeler 2. Vegetable section.—Mrs M. Grbich 1, Miss Irwin 2. Mrs Motion gave a very interesting talk on chrysanthemum culture. The roll call, “My Favourite Quotation,” was well answered. Afternoon tea was served and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
