NETHERTON FAREWELL

SGT. ARTHUR REID HONOURED PRESENTATION FROM DISTRICT An excellent crowd gathered at the Netherton Hall on Wednesday evening last to bid farewell to Sgt. Arthur Reid. Excellent music was supplied by the Paeroa Melody Makers while extras were played by Miss Muriel Sarjant. After a delicious supper Mr L. Sanderson on behalf of -the Netherton residents presented Sgt. “Sandy” Reid with a wallet wishing him the -best of luck and a safe return. Mrs A. F. Maude on behalf of the Netherton Women’s Institute presented the guest of the evening with a small parcel of woollen comforts. On behalf of the Netherton Lodge Miss M. Sarjant presented Sgt. Reid with a leather writing set and extended best wishes from members of the Lodge. Musical honours were then accorded after which Sgt. Reid replied, thanking the people for the evening and

for the lovely gifts he had received. He stated that he was looking forward to ging over the other side and helping our boys there to keep up the good name. A Monte 4 Carlo waltz was won by Mr A.
