NEW MEMBERS
HIKUTAIA AND TAIRUA WELCOME BY CHAIRMAN THAMES COUNTY COUNCIL Two new members for the Tairua and Hikutaia ridings were welcomed by the chairman, Mr D. Courtney, at the June meeting of the Thames County Council, to their respective seats at the council table. “Mr J. McCall will take the place of Mr Williamson as member for the Tairua riding,” said Mr Courtney, “and Mr G. Henwood will represent the Hikutaia riding in place of Mr McCollum. I would like to congratulate the new members on their appointments and congratulate the council on having the privilege of having them with us.” Mr Courtney said Mr McCall was a well-known resident in his riding, and was chairman of the Tairua Dairy Company, which position he had filled capably. His work in the district had been appreciated by the residents. “Mr Henwood has resided in Wharepoa for many years,” said the chairman “and I know he will give the utmost attention to matters of county and his riding’s interest. I am sure he will be a valued addition to the council and a worthy successor to Mr McCollum.” Both members suitably replied, each thanking the for his remarks.
