CONDITION OF WAIHI ROAD ALLOTMENTS IN PAEROA OWNERS PREFER NOT TO SELL (From the Ohinemuri Gazette of 'June 21, 1903.) The road to Waihi is not in such a bad state as some people would imagine, and there are piles of road metal to spread when occasion arises. Some of the more dangerous portions of the road are being protected by railing, but there are still lots of places that sadly need attention in this direction. We hear that lately several inquiries have been made for allotments in 'Paeroa, but the owners prefer not to sell. If some of the town allotments could be acquired at anything like reasonable prices we are informed that the building trade would be far more active than it is. There is one gentleman in the town who owns quite a number of town allotments who will not sell nor build on them. While the choicest sites are locked up in this manner the town . will always be in a backward state.
