DAIRIES CLOSE TO PROFIT SALE HELD IN WAIHOU YARDS The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited report that at their stock sale held at Waihou on Thursday a full yarding of sheep was penned. Prices for fat wethers and lambs remained firm, while an offering of store wethers also realised satisfactory prices. A good yarding of fat and boner cows came forward, and satisfactory prices were realised. Dairy cows and heifers close to profit were in demand but backward sorts were not wanted. A light yarding of pigs came forward, values being fully up to recent quotations. Quotations: — Sheep.—Fat 2-th. wethers, 29s to 31s; lighter, 27s Id to 27s 4d; store wethers, 23s 9d to 24s 3d; heavy prime fat lambs, to 275; fat lambs, 23s to 24s 8d; lighter, 19s 9d to 22s 4d; forward, 17s 6d to 19s. Cattle.—Fat cows, £5 18s to £7; heavy boner cows, £4 to £5; medium, £3 to £4; light, £2 to £3; boner bulls, £3 5s to £4 15s; Jersey heifer calves, to £4 2s; 2-year empty Jersey-cross heifers, to £3 12s; Jersey and Jerseycross heifers, close to profit, £9 to £ll ss; heifers in milk, £8 to £9 10s; Jersey and Jersey-cross cows close to profit, £lO to £l3 ss; later calvers, £6 to £B.
