Wash-house Burned
The Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade was called out last night at approxi-
mately 10.30 p.m. when a wash-house ■behind a house owned and occupied by Mr "A. H. Whitmore was totally •destroyed. Piako Culvert Extension

The monthly meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board was held at Turua on Thursday, the chairman, Mr C. K. Fox, presiding. Others present were Messrs D. G. McMillan, R. E. Tye, R. B. Madgwick, C. W. Schultz, E. B. Hill and the secretary, Mr J. E. Green. Plains Council Meets The monthly meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council was held in Ngateu' on Wednesday, the chairman, Mr C. W. Parfitt, presiding. Others presnt were Messrs J. F. Mayn, D. G. McMillan, W. H. Cheale, C. W. Schultz, F. Pinchess, A. H. Sutton, J. W. Neate, the clerk, Mr E. A. Mahoney, and the engineer, Mr J. C. Clarke.
