COMMUNITY SING

TIROHIA ’WOMEN’S DIVISION

MISS VEALE WINS BEST BLOOM

The president, Mrs Wild, presided over a fair attendonce of members at the February meeting of the Tirohia branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. The meeting opened with the singing of the Division song. A Thames Valley provincial meeting will be held in Paeroa on February 23 and it was arranged for dele-gates-from the branch to attend. Mrs Dorothy Johnson, a lecturer for adult education from Auckland, will attend the provincial meeting. She will then stay in Tirohia as the guest of Mrs Wild and address a meeting of members of the MangaitiTirohia branches.

At the conclusion of business Mrs Cecil Jackson gave two beautifully rendered solos, followed by a bright community sing. Afternoon tea was then served. The result of the best bloom competition was: Miss I. Veale 1, Mrs Wild and Mrs Silcock (tied) 2, Mrs Murray 4.

The competition for March will be for the best hand-worked button-hole on linen, also the best floral buttonhole.
