TREASURED LETTER

LT.-GEN. FREYBERG’S THANKS RECEIVED PARCEL FROM PLAINS The president of the Kopuarahi Patriotic Committee, Miss G. Hale, has had the distinction of receiving the following letter from Lieut.-General B. C. Freyberg sCommanding Second New Zealand • Expeditionary Force:— “ This is a short note to thank you and the residents of Kopuarahi for the parcel which has just been delivered to me here in the desert. It is a great day for all of us when the parcels come, and, as I have said on other occasions, you would all feel amply repaid for the time and trouble you take and the money you spend if you could see for yourselves how much pleasure you bring to the men who-receive your gifts. We all appreciate to the full the kindness and generosity of the people in New Zealand who give us these ‘extra birthdays’ while we are • away from home.”
