PATRIOTIC AFFAIRS
PAEROA LADIES’ COMMITTEE MONTHLY MEETING HELD The October meeting of the Paeroa Ladies’ Patriotic Committee was held in the Coronation Chambers, Paeroa, on Monday afternoon last when the President Mrs E. Edwards, presided over the following:—Mesdames G. Bennett, E. Turton, G. Stewart, F. McQuillan, A .A. Jenkinson, J. Fielding, L. Gibb, E. Chisholm, J. Kidd, H. Evans, W. Wylde, G. Hunt, and the secretary, -Mrs R. Buckrell. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames W. Barclay, R. A. Mace, E. Darby, G. Elvidge, W. Robson, M. Parry and Miss Mackinson.' It was reported that arrangements were well in hand for the street stall to be held on Friday next and that a children’s hard-up and fancy dress dance was being organised by the W.W.S.A. for the end of this month, proceeds to go to the All-Purposes Appeal. It was suggested that the various bridge clubs be again approached with regard to holding’ further card evenings in aid of the 1942 All Purposes Appeal. Mrs Edwards reported having received 89 knitted garments during the month comprising 31 scarves, -42 balaclavas, 11 pairs mittens and 5 pairs socks.
