FARMERS’ WIVES EXCLUDE extra tea and sugar protest sent to member A strong protest against farmers’ wives being excluded from receiving the extra allowance of tea and sugar which has recently been made available to all farm workers has been voiced by members of the Netherton branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union and the following telegram has been sent to Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P., for Hauraki. The telegram reads as follows: — , “ Netherton branch ot tne Farmers’ Union ask you to protest against the unfair treatment of dairy farmers’ wives m being denied extra ration of tea and sugar.” Cheale, President. Mr W. H. Cheale, speaking to a Gazette representative, stated that he understood that neighbouring branches of the Farmers Union were taking similar action. “ I cannot see any reason why a farmer’s wife working in the shed cannot be treated the same as her husband,” said Mr Chea e.
