SEPTEMBER TOPS LIST RAINFALL FOR THE YEAR ONLY ONE FROST EXPERIENCED With 5.44 inches of rain recorded in Paeroa during September, the month Was the wettest experienced to date this year. It was also the wettest September for nine years, only 2.78 inches being recorded in 1942 and 1-46 inches in 1941. Rainfall for the year for the nine months is only 27.0- inches compared with 39.59 inches for the same period last year. Rain fell on 22 days during September but except for September 2 when 1.37 inches were registered on no day was the rainfall heavy. Sunshine was recorded on 15 days during the month, the reading being taken at 9 a.m. each day. Thunder and lightning was experienced in four storms on September 3, 10, 15 and 25 while a high wind with heavy showers made September 25 unpleasant. 'Only one frost was recorded, it being on September 12. Barometric pressure showed little fluctuation, the lowest recording being 29.37 incres on September 24 while the highest was registered at 30.40 inches on both September 6 and 7. There was considerable variation in readings from the thermometer, the highest being 60’ degrees on September 3, 15, 18 and 24 while the lowest, 45 degrees, was registered on September 12 when a frost was recorded.
