SCOUTS IN PAEROA

ASSOCIATION MEETING OFFICERS FOR THE YEAR MR C. N. O’NEILL SCOUTMASTER A meeting of the P'aeroa Scout Group Association was held on Monday evening, Mr C. N. O’Neill presiding over a fair attendance of members. The Scoutmaster, Mr R. Walker, presented his report on the activities of the troop arid said it was becoming increasingly difficult to hold the Scout meetings because the Drill Hall was required every evening for military purposes. He had found it necessary to relinquish his position as Scoutmaster owing to the pressure of his army duties, of his army duties. A hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was accorded to Mr Walker for the time and enthusiasm he had put into the work during the past three years. Mr O’Neill, having offered his services, it was decided to recommend, ■to the District Commissioner that a Scoutmaster’s warrant be issued to him. Financial Position The financial statement presented by the secretary, Miss M. Whitriiore, showed that after meeting the expenditure on the scout hut at Komata £l5 16s Bd, the credit in hand at the end of the year was £5 11s Od. The acting Cub Mistress, Miss M. O'’Neill, stated that the Wolf Cub Pack had held regular weekly meetings and were showing keen interest. Mrs Wheeler had some useful suggestions to make for competitions for the cubs and Mr V. E. Turner who had until recently been Scoutmaster at Te Aroha, offered his assistance with the Scouts.

At the request of the District Commissioner, Mr 'F. G. South on it was decided to include the Waikino Wolf Cub Pack in the Paeroa group and to assist the Cub Mistress there, Miss E. Mann, as much as possible.

The committee for the ensuing year comprise Mesdames C. E. James, S. Wheeler, E. Turton, G. Bennett, G. Dent, F. Hayward and L. Gibb, Messrs C. N. O’Neill and V. E. Turner (ex officio), Canon W. G. H. Weadon, Rev. J. R. Nelson, Major J. R. Moore, Rev. H. Jamieson and Messrs W. J. Pope, W. Barclay and R. Walker; secretary and treasurer, Miss M. Whitmore.
