SATISFACTORY YEAR
HUIRAU ROAD DAIRY FACTORY SUPPLIERS’ ANNUAL MEETING - The annual meeting of suppliers to the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company’s Huirau road cheese factory was held recently, Mr" J. Newman, chairman of committee, presiding. The annual report disclosed that the past year had been a very satisfactory one, both as regards production and quality. The factory handled 14,979,4701 b of milk, with an ' average test of 4.124 per cent. The whey cream recovery to 1001 b of but-, terfat worked out at 4.659 per cent. The total payout to suppliers was 18.637 d per lb. butterfat, which compared very favourably with factories of a similar size. The chairman explained that the change over from cheese to butter production, and also the double shift, had caused some difficulty, and he paid tribute to the excellent work of the manager, Mr A. H. Whitehead, and his staff for the excellent way the increased production had been handled.
