CENSORSHIP OF BROADCACTING
(To The Editor) gir,—J read with sympathy the letter signed “Father” in your edition of July 29 on the above matter, and like him I marvel that in these days of anxiety and suffering the broadcasting of such plays as he re- j fers to should be tolerated. I don’t know whether this particular play would be covered by what the 8.8. C. recently described as “debilitating,” but to me, like a lot of other cheap trash with which the air is afflicted, it, is contemptible. ,
I am afraid, however, that very large numbers of people who appal-, ently enjojTthis twaddle and. inanity would denounce me as a disciple -of Hitler if I could do what I think it deserves—that is, consign. it to the rubbish tip. z I am submitting “Father’s” letter to the Prime Minister, but in the meantime my advice to those whom such plays offend is to switch off on to something else, and if the something else is no better, to sit by the fire with a good hook. — I am, etc., JAMES THORN, House of Representatives, 3/8/42.
