WIN FOR NGATEA

THAMES BEATEN 9 TO 6

ANNUAL RUGBY MATCH GAME PLAYED ON WEDNESDAY The Ngatea District High School defeated the Thames High School m an annual rugby match at Thames on Wednesday by nine points

to six. Ngatea played the better game and undoubtedly deserved their victory. Their forwards were solid and convincing in all stages of play, while the Thames team appeared to lack cohesion and leadership. Ngatea’s nine points were composed of three penalty kicks, while the six scored for Thames came from a try by Dynes and a penalty kick put over by Lang. • Dynes’ try was made possible when Lang effected a clever opening which began with a 50yd. run and ended with a well-placed short kick. Five yards from the goal-line, Dynes oo the ball and touched it down. Lang missed a fairly difficult kick. The referee was Mr R. F. Richards. BASKETBALL GAME FURTHER NGATEA VICTORY Ngatea scored another victory their old rivals when their basketball A team beat the Thames school seniors by 16 goals to 10.
