21ST BIRTHDAY

MISS E. SNELGAR HONOURED

VERY ENJOYABLE EVENING A very enjoyable dance was held last Friday night in the Civic Ballroom, Paeroa, in honour of the twenty-first birthday of Miss E. Snelgar. There were approximately 100 guests present. Mr K. C. Niblock acted as M.C., and Mr R. J. W. Clark performed some clever conjuring tricks.

Miss Violet Lanfear to the evening’s entertainment by singing “The Memory of a Rose” and “Balalaika?” accompanied on the piano by Miss Elva Davie. The music for the dancing was supplied by the New Collegians in their usual jolly manner. An extra was played by Mr Roy Daulton. A candid camera representative was present and many flashlight photos were taken during the course of the evening. . Miss Snelgar wore a delightful frock of ivory satin and a grey fur bolero. After supper Mr Niblock proposed a toast to Miss Snelgar’s health and she f suitably replied, thanking the guests for the many lovely presents she received. The Monte Carlo prize was won by Miss Madge Smeath and Mr Roy Norton and the Spot Waltz prize was won by Mr Kevin Ryall and Miss Rona Briggs. . At the close of the evening everyone joined hands in a circle and sang Auld Lang Syne, and all agreed that the evening had been a very pleasant one.
