The world “on wheels” Is slowing down, Or slowing up, At least Things are different Now that So many private cars Have gone into Retirement.
That man over there, In that second seat, He is an official Of a manufacturing concern In the city. The girl across the aisle Is one of his stenographers. The chap behind him Is in the accounting department. Their conversation Is singular; It’s not about business, but The fun Of getting away To the farm in the country For the week-end. A discovery of a mutual Fondness for Sleigh-riding; For home-grown Vegetables, meats and preserves. Each gets a new Perspective Of the other; The uncovering of A mutual humanity, Common desires and interests. People are brought Closer together On a bus or train. Haven’t you noticed? .
