NO INCREASE
WOOL FOR LOCAL MARKET
QUESTION BY MR~§UTHERLAND
Speaking in the House of Representatives recently, Mr Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki, asked the Minister of Marketing, as an urgent question, whether, in view of the fact that the Minister has announced that the Government, will not pay the 15 per cent, for wool used on the local market as it would conflict with the Government stabilisation scheme, he would consider subsidising the woolgrowers for the 15 per cent, lost .on wool used locally ?. The Hon. Mr Barclay, Minister of Marketing, in reply, said if the Jocal wool remains stabilised the woolgrower will still get an overall increase'of 13i per cent. The woolgrower was also subsidised on fertilisers and other farm requisites and under the circumstances hie would not agree to recommend the 15 per cent, increase on the local market.
