SITTING HELD IN PAEROA No. 1 ARMED FORCES BOARD 36 CASES DEALT WITH A sitting of the Paeroa No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board was held in the Courthouse, Paeroa, on Thursday, the chairman, Mr Edwin Edwards, presiding. Associated with him were Messrs J. J. Poland, E. J. Wilton and the secretary, Mr A. Ripley. E. Powell and Co., Ltd., (Mr C. N. O’Neill), butchers, of Paeroa, appealed for his farm manager, C. K. Jackson. Jackson also appealed. Adjourned sine die on condition reservist remains in his. present employment and joins the Home Guard within seven days. L. Henwood • (Mr R. S. Carden), dairy machine agent of Paeroa, appealed for E. A. Duncan, a separator serviceman. Decision reserved for one month to allow appellant to supply further information. The P.W.D. appealed for E. L. Hunt. / The appeal was withdrawn by consent of the board and reservist posted to the Defence Engineers’ Service Corps. W. Marshall (Mr C. N. O’Neill), a farmer of Paeroa, appealed for his son, C. H. Marshall, a farmhand. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment, to continue to serve with the Home Guard.

Slavick Bros. (Mr R. S. Carden), farmers, appealed for S. K. Bartulovich, a sharemilker. Bartulovich also appealed on his own account. O’Neill), chemist, of Paeroa, on active service, appealed for S. I. Mclntyre, manager. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present occupation and to continue to serve in the Emergency, Precautions Scheme Organisation.

The Public Works Department appealed for J. 'P. Hayes (grader driver) and R. M. Watt (draughtsman). The appeals were adjourned sine die on' condition" s 'reservists remain in their present occupation and serve in the Defence Engineering Service Corps. R. L. Darley (Mr C. N. 0 Neill), newspaper publisher appealed on his own account. The appeal was supported by the estate of the late W. D. Nicholas, Ltd. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present occupation and to continue to serve in the E.P.S. A. E. Rogers, an electrician of Paeroa (Mr R. S. Carden), appealed on his own account. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present occupation and join the Home Guard within seven

days. T. J. L. Broadley, a watchmaker, jeweller and beekeeper of Paeroa, appealed on his own account. The decision was reserved.

C. A. Stembridge and Sons (Mr R. S. Carden), carriers, of Paeroa, appealed for 1 C. Cotter, a driver stationed at Ngatea. • The appeal was. adjourned sine die to be reviewed m case of any change in the dairy industry. Reservist to continue in his present employment and' to join the Home Guard within seven days.

B. A. Gwilliam, motor and general engineer, of Paeroa, appealed for J. E. Pascoe, a mechanic. The Paeroa Volunteer Fire Brigade also appealed for Pascoe. The appeal was adjourned until October 31, 1942, reservist to remain in his present occupation and continue to serve m the fire brigade.

The Gane Milking Machine Company appealed for W. M. Rackham, of Paeroa, a milking machine expert. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and to join the Home Guard within seven days.

C. Feildhouse, a farmer of Mangaiti, appealed on his own account and supported an appeal by his sharer milker, A. Tynan for K. A. Tynan, a farmhand at present in camp. The appeal for Feildhouse was adjourned sine .die, reservist to join the Home Guard within seven days and that for Tynan’ was dismissed.-. W. M. Warner, taxi-driver of Pae-

roa (Mr R. S. Carden) appealed' for time to September 30, to dispose of his business. The appeal was withdrawn by consent of the board reservist not to be called before August 31.

The Ohinemuri County Council appealed, for H. F. Shears, a member of their outside staff. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present occupation and to continue to serve in the works section of the E.P.S.O.

The estate of Warman (Mr Gilchrist), appealed for I. L. Williams, a sharemilker. The appeal was adjourned for one week so that further* information could be supplied

The Master Bakers and Pastry Cooks’ Association appealed for T. F. Rolton, a journeyman baker employed by the Victoria Bakeries Ltd., of Paeroa. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and to continue to serve in the E.P’.S.O.

The New Zealand Co-operative Dairy’Co., appealed McCarthy, “employed at Netherton factory and L. Spencer employed at Hikutaia factory. The appeal of Spencer was adjourned sine die on condition that he remains in his present occupation and joins the Home Guard within seven days. The appeal of’ McCarthy was adjourned for one week to enable fur*ther information to be supplied:

A. Vowles, a farmei* of Paeroa (Mr C. N. O’Neill), of . Paeroa, appealed for his son, H. H. Vowles, farm manager at Netherton. The appeal was adjourned sine die on condition reservist remains in his present employment and continues to serve in the Home Guard.

A. Gubb (Mr R. S. Carden), appealed for his sharemilker, 'N. T. Forder. Forder also appeal on his own account.- The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and to continue in the Home Guard. G. Buchanan, farmer, of Paeroa (Mr C. N. O’Neill) 1 , appealed for E. W. Anderton, his sharemilker at Awaiti. Anderton also appealed. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and to continue to serve in the Home Guard. A. Bain, of Auckland, appealed for A. H. Cole, the leasee of his farm. Cole also appealed on his own account. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to continue in. his present employment and to continue to serve in the Home Guard. W. C. Norton, a dairy farmer, of Hikutaia, appealed on his own .account. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and to continue in the Home Guard. The chairman commented that the herd, milked, 23 cows, was not a full-time job and recommended that reservist plant an area in potatoes or some similar

crop. O. W. Hayes, a fanner of Netherton (Mr R: S. Carden), appealed on his own account. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present occupation and to continue to serve with the Home H. E. Duncan (Mr C. N. The appeal was adjourned until August 31 to enable arrangements to be made. R. W. Crow (Mr R. S. Carden), a farmer of Awaiti, appealed on his own account. The appeal was adjourned sine die, reservist to remain in his present employment and to continue to serve in the Home Guard.
