PIPIROA FAREWELL
MR AND MRS KARL HONOURED
PRESENTATION . OIF HANDBAG
A very enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mr and Mrs Karl, of Pipiroa, when about forty of their friends gathered there for a surprise party and also to bid them farewell before they left to take up a new home in Manurewa. The evening was spent in games, dancing and community singing. After supper Mrs E. Keane, of Pipiroa, made a presentation in the form of a handbag to Mrs Karl, and thanked her for her assistance at the fortnightly patriotic dances by playing extras, etc. Mrs Karl suitably replied.
After “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow” had been played, dancing was resumed.
“Auld Lang Syne” brought a very happy evening to a close.
The guest of honour wore a tan woollen frock, and Miss M. Karl wore a frock of green striped jersey.
Also present were Mesadmes Keane, Williams, Galvin, O’Neil, V. Keane, Schwartz and Marshall and Misses Alach, Warner, MacDonald, Dalgety, O’Neil, J. and M. Keane, C. Schwartz and P. Waite, and Messrs Karl, Williams, Galvin, Marshall, Alach, McQuillam, N. and B'. O’Neil, Wallis, G. Foote, C. Mangan, Powelly, Troopers Mangan and Foote and Privates R. Campbell and Mac'Donell.
