PRIME LAMBS ON RAILWAY
OFTEN LEFT ON A SIDING
“In some parts of New Zealand railway truck loads of prime lambs or wethers bounjl for the killing works were shunted on to a siding to allow passenger railcars to pass. I think this system should be reversed, for sheep should reach the works with a minimum of delay,” said Mr F. C. Johnstone, of Whatawhata, at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Sheepowners’ Federation, when referring to the disabilities imposed on sheepowners.
