“A GLOWING TRIBUTE”
NEW ZEALAND STANDS OUT FEW INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES “New Zealand stands out as a glowing example to the rest of the Empire for its few industrial disputes hampering production,” remarked the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, recently; The fact was there had not been an organised strike for years, with the exception of the Westfield freezing works strike, declared the Minister. There had been stopwork meetings and day stoppages, however. Those had been very irritating and, mostly, extremely unwise, as the matters in dispute could have been rectified quite easily without resort to stoppages.
