MILITARY BALL
SUCCESSFUL EVENING FUNDS FOR SERVICES CLUB FUNCTION HELD IN PAEROA A very successful Military Ball was held in the Regent Hall, Paeroa, on Wednesday evening when dancers were present in numbers from Paeroa, Waihi, Te Aroha, Tauranga, and the surrounding districts. Excellent music was supplied by a Paeroa orchestra while extras were given by Mrs R. Cleary and Mr R. Daulton. During the programme several excellent items were provided including a duet :by the Misses Royal and "songs by Miss V. Lanfear, who was accompanied by Mrs J. Pickford. A Railway Monte Carlo was won ■by Miss Taylor and Sgt. Stewart while a Spot Waltz was won by Miss M. Jones and R. Henry. Surprise novelty dance prizes were awarded to Mrs C. A. Blackwood and Sgt.Major Nicol, Miss June Scanlan and Mi’ G. Masters, Miss iD. Davies and Sgt. Southwick. During the evening the Mayor, Mr Edwin Edwards, spoke of the aims and objects of the All Services Club which he urged every citizen of ‘Paeroa to support. The proceeds of the evening were to go to the club funds. He added that he was pleased to know that Paeroa was providing means of entertainment both for men in the Armed Forces stationed in Paeroa and for those who visited the town. He appealed to all to assist by joining the club, the membership fee being merely a nominal sum. Dancing continued to a late hour.
