KITCHEN EVENING

MISS 0. MURRAY HONOURED FUNCTION HEW AT TURUA A very happy kitchen evening* was held in the Turua Buildings recently to honour Miss Olwen Murray and Mr Jack Mules, whose wedding took place on Saturday last. Both Miss Murray and Mr Mules- are members of two of the oldest pioneering families in the Turua district and a large crowd of friends and well-wishers had' gathered to present their gifts to this popular couple.

The function took the form of a dance, music being provided by Mrs Ted Clark and Mrs J. Thrupp. Mrs Mules 'Snr., played an extra. On behalf of all those present, Mr C. Scott asked the guests .of honour to come forward and accept a wellfilled basket of packages, which he said would express in no small way the good wishes of their many friends. All joined in extending highest hopes for health, wealth and much happiness to them both.

He said that although Jack had been away off and on, he always came back, but the pity of it now was, that he was taking Olwen away also, and all would confidently agree, that she would be greatly missed by a wide circle on the Hauraki Plains. Mr Scott said that in double harness these two should have no difficulty whatever in surmounting any hurdles which might occur in their future, and the Turua residents hoped that the periodical visits to the district would continue to be quite as frequent as before. They would not wish to lose -Jack and Olwen altogether. Musical honours were then accorded.

In reply, Mr Jack Mules expressed the sincere thanks of Miss 1 Murray and himself for the kindness and generosity of those who had been responsible for the function. They also deeply appreciated the references made by Mr Scott to the Stirling pioneering qualities of their respective families and would include this evening among the happiest spent in their home town.

The array of gifts, both useful and ornamental, included: a most acceptable amount of crockery.
