PAEROA LADIES’ COMMITTEE
MONTHLY MEETING HELD
Mrs Edwin Edwards presided over a good attendance, which included the following members, at the monthly meeting of the Paeroa Ladies 1 ’ Patriotic Committee, in the Coronation Chambers, on Monday afternoon: — Mesdames J. Bartlett, E. Turton, J. Fielding, W. Barclay, J. Kidd, L. Gibb, G. Bennett, W. Wylde, iGeo Stewart, F. McQuillan, A. Jenkinson, G. Lamb, C. E. James,. E. Darby, G. Hunt and the secretary, Mrs R. Buckrell. Apologies were received from Mesdames W. Hopping, M. Parry, G. Elvidge, E. W. Chisholm, W. Robson, R. A. Mace, T. Short and Miss G. Lamb.
Mrs Edwards reported the handing in of 82 knitted articles that morning, comprising 20 ’ pairs of mittens, 28 balaclavas and' 34 starves. Mrs Fielding, the Lady Galway Guild representative, stated that since no clothes or materials were being made available for the real guild objective, ladies who would care to carry on with the weekly afternoon of work would probably undertake a share of the patriotic knitting. Pleasure was expressed at the two highly successful" patriotic efforts held since last committee meeting—the Scotch afternoon arranged -by Mrs Murdoch and Mrs Wilson and Mrs Fitzwilliam’s combined choirs concert.
It was agreed to hold a card (bridge, 500 and mah jongg) afternoon early in July. Each member undertook to assist in every way and the usual afternoon tea arrangements' stand.
