SCARLET CAPES

UNIFORMS FOR THAMES NURSES REQUEST FROM THE MATRON In future the sisters in the Thame* Hospital will appear in scarlet capes as is customary in many hospitals throughout ‘New Zealand. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Hospital Board the matron, Miss K. M. Ansenne, wrote asking the board to provide scarlet capes for the trained staff.

“It would necessitate 12 capes to commence with and these would remain the property of the hospital board,” wrote the matron. “This is done by many hospital boards and the uniform result is preferable to our present varied styles of cardigans, no two being alike,” concluded the letter.

It was agreed to provide the capes as requested.
