May Plant Flax

Just across the river, at Te Aroha, running behind Kenwyn Hospital to the railway line, is a block of lovelying marshland which has long been a, source of worry to the Te Aroha Borough Council, to whom it belongs. Just what to do with it, or whether anything could be done with .it, has 'been discussed from time to time without much in the way of finality. At the last meeting of the council, however, it was decided to investigate the possibilities of planting it in flax. “Flax may be an important industry in this locality within the next few years,” was the comment made by several councillors.
